We are committed to creating functional systems of utilitarian leather handbags and accessories that are luxurious and understated, making the everyday lives of our customers easier.

COMMUNITY

Yu Mei is a community-focused brand. Club Yu Mei is a framework to engage with our customers, collaborators and team members. Our Yu Mei Lounges act as venues to host community-focused events—product launches, customer breakfasts, private styling, and evening drinks. We aim to inspire our community with our collaborative approach to doing business.

Yu Mei is founded on the pillars of Regenerative Utility. Each design begins with a genuine need which informs a base level of utility, made with regenerative materials from the land.

Materials

Each leather skin used in a Yu Mei bag passes through 35 sets of hands to get to its final state. We proudly hold close relationships throughout our supply chain and consider our partners part of our team.

Craft

We have partnered with a manufacturer in Dongguan that upholds the highest level of craftsmanship and social responsibility.

Circularity

Born out of our commitment to circularity, Carried Again initiative works to extend a product’s useful life through mending and refurbishing, and our annual Archive Event is a crucial mechanism in our efforts to reduce waste.

Community

In 2020, we raised $51,590 for the Wellington City Mission through our innovative Bags For All campaign.

Measurability and accountability are important to us to formalise the sustainable, regenerative, and circular practices that inherently exist at Yu Mei.
