Matters of Material: Bodin-Joyeux Tannery

Keti Toloraia wears the Charlie Bag in Toffee Lambskin.

Almost a third of our collection is crafted from French Lambskin sourced via a small family Tannery in Levroux. In line with our Regeneration Roadmap, we work with Leather Working Group-certified tanneries, and recently, we visited the business behind our lambskin supply, Bodin-Joyeux, in Paris to select our colourways for our Autumn Winter ‘24 collection.

The showroom houses a selection of over 250 colourways of our much-loved plongé lambskin. Plongé is an uncoated finish that ensures that the material remains as close to its original softness as possible and celebrates the individual characteristics of the skin, which are considered to be a hallmark of the leather’s premium quality.

Founded in 1860, Bodin-Joyeux Maison is the recipient of the prestigious Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant, an award honouring those who have combined technological innovation with the preservation of traditional French artisanship.

Owned by Chanel SA, they not only specialise in the supply of the most premium lambskin, they also supply the Vatican its parchment.
