Jessie Wong & Kirsty Lillico discuss 'Rumpus', a work made from deer nappa scraps.
One of our core values at Yu Mei is championing and collaborating with local artists. Another is regeneration, and finding ways to minimise and repurpose what would otherwise be waste. So it was an honour to work with artist Kirsty Lillico on our latest collaboration, a visually arresting project that combines both these principles. And we'd love you to come and take a look.
Kirsty Lillico is an artist based in Te Whanganui-a-Tara, represented by Scott Lawrie Gallery. For this body of work, titled ‘Rumpus’, Kirsty transformed Yu Mei's production offcuts from the past four years into wall-mounted upholstered reliefs, which will be on display at Yu Mei's Wellington retail Lounge at 85 Victoria Street for the remainder of March, and the beginning of April, as part of the Threads Textile Festival.
