For an especially limited time, our annual sell-out Archive Event is back.
Shop exclusive colourways, sample stock, and your favourite archival styles fashioned from repurposed leather scraps and hardware overruns. Peruse our selection of preloved Buyback bags that have been lovingly refurbished, ready for their new homes and a fabulous second life.
By shopping our archive, you’re helping us reduce waste, repurpose offcuts and excess hardware, rehome second hand bags, and give the lightly worn a second chance. Akin to the ‘ugly’ fruit at the supermarket, it might have a slight blemish or imperfection, but is still as tasty as the perfectly ripe tomato next to it.
You can help us achieve the following waste-reducing impacts, by shopping at our Archive Event:
1 Rehome over 40 Buyback bags
2 Repurpose 12.85 kg of brass alloy hardware overruns
3 Utilise 216 ft² of larger leather offcuts from mainline production, that would otherwise be waste
4 Divert 29 kg of smaller leather scraps from landfill
The most in-demand category of our Archive Events, the Buyback Edit comprises second-life bags that have been submitted to our Buyback Initiative. Aimed at promoting circularity and extending the useful life of Yu Mei products, these preloved bags with plenty of life left in them have been refurbished, repaired and refreshed. Buy, use, recycle, relove. We’re proud to announce that this year’s selection of Buyback bags is the biggest yet - thank you to our community who have submitted in the name of circularity.
By shopping the Buyback edit, you’re helping to divert 139 square ft of premium NZ deer nappa, 23 square ft of NZ deer suede and 1725 grams of brass hardware from landfill.
As seen on the pages of your favourite magazine and in our own collection campaigns, our selection of Press
Samples have been very gently used for photoshoots. While signs of wear might be imperceptible, these mainline bags are not fresh-out-the-box, so we’re selling them at a slightly discounted rate.
The original Archive Event MVPs, this range of archival styles is produced from leather scraps and offcuts, hardware overruns and general odds ‘n ends. This is an exclusive chance to purchase archival styles no longer in production, such as the Georgie Bag, Jacqui Bag, Grace Bucket and much-loved Greta Purse. Many of these styles are one-offs in the colourways we’ve produced them in, including a few rare two-tone options.
Bags that have been on display in our Lounges may sometimes show insignificant wear on the bottom corners, or a temporary wrinkle that can be remedied with use. In perfect, saleable, working order, we’ve curated a small selection of these bags at a discounted rate.
Unreleased or working samples used in the design and construction phase, this presents an opportunity to own a piece of Yu Mei history. Some of these are final samples, which are identical to the designs sold in mainline
collections; while others are samples in unused leather textures or one-off colourways.
As a hallmark of the quality of natural materials, we embrace and celebrate minor imperfections. Items in this
category may have small blemishes in the leather, or other minor faults. Each individual item description and price is reflected accordingly.
